Gen Art LA Fashion Alumni Celebration
On March 16, the 80+ degree Los Angles afternoon segued into a hot kickoff to LA Fashion Week, courtesy of the Gen Art LA Fashion Alumni Celebration. An impressively stylish crowd gathered poolside at the Roosevelt Hotel’s Tropicana to honor Gen Art’s fashion alumni who have influenced the design community. Below are the alumni designers we celebrated:
Brigid Catiis * Eduardo Lucero * Elmer Ave * Endovanera * Erik Hart * Freddie Rojas * Geren Ford * Grey Ant * Jared Gold * Jeffrey Sebelia * Katy Rodriguez * Kit Scarbo * Louis Verdad * Orthodox * Rami Kashou * Society For Rational Dress * Wren

In addition to the Project Runway designers who were being commended- Jeffrey, Rami Kashou (Season 4), and Kit Scarbo (Season 4)- Bec and I were happy to see Althea Harper (Season 6) and Mila Hermanovski (Season 7) in attendance. Other guests included Law & Order’s Anthony Anderson, designer/House of Jazmin’s Jazmin Whitley, E! News personality Ashlan Gorse, Big Brother Season 3’s Marcellus Reynolds, and designer/interior designer/TV personality Bobby Trendy.

This was my second Gen Art event- my first being the “Fresh Faces in Fashion” Show this past October. Gen Art is dedicated to showcasing emerging fashion designers, filmmakers, musicians, and visual artists- and that celebration of the creative spirit is what makes Gen Art so stand out. I left with a renewed sense of hope for my emergence into my own craft, and fittingly walked along Hollywood Boulevard past the wandering tourists looking down at the stars of those who have emerged in their own rights. LA’s the city of dreamers and a town of achievers and I was happy to celebrate both that night.
P.S.- This is Part 1 of 2 posts from the event. Next, I’ll be posting photos of the fabulous bunch of fashion bloggers I hung out with. We all had a fashionably fun time!
